Kings of the Atlas: 7-Day High Atlas Mountain Bike Expedition

7 Days

Ride 309 kilometres across Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains on an extreme 7-day MTB expedition through Aït Bouguemez, the Tessaout Valley, Telouet, the Yagour Plateau and the Ourika Valley.

Overview

Kings of the Atlas is an extraordinary 7-day mountain bike expedition across some of the wildest and most remote landscapes of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains.

Beginning in Aït M’Hamed near Azilal, the route crosses the beautiful Aït Bouguemez Valley before entering the isolated High Tessaout region. Riders continue through Anmiter and Telouet, climb remote mountain passes and finish with a demanding crossing of the Yagour Plateau into the Ourika Valley.

The complete route covers approximately 309 kilometres and includes more than 8,000 metres of total ascent. Around 60% of the route is unpaved, with technical singletrack, rocky descents, river crossings, steep climbs and two extended hike-a-bike sections.

This expedition is designed exclusively for physically fit and technically experienced mountain bikers. Participants must be comfortable riding steep and exposed trails, descending loose rocky terrain and carrying or pushing their bicycles at high altitude.

Accommodation includes mountain guesthouses and simple local homestays. Riders experience exceptional Amazigh hospitality while discovering valleys and villages rarely visited by conventional tourists.

Important: Vehicle Support:

A support vehicle cannot follow the group throughout the entire route because several stages cross remote singletrack trails, high mountain passes and isolated valleys.

Vehicle assistance is available only at accessible roads and designated meeting points. Participants must be capable of completing remote stages independently with the guide.
